Biography
Desirée Isphording was born on September 21, 1983
and currently resides in eastern Pennsylvania. She enjoys incorperating
mythology (particularly ancient Egyptian mythology, but other pantheons
inspire her as well), symbolism, local flora and fauna, the realm
of Faery, legend, folklore, and other interests into her work .
In particular, her spirituality heavily influences her work, and
her work influences my spirituality. She is definately a Neo-Pagan
artist, although she feels her work can and has held meaning for
non-Pagans. Desirée has been creating art as far back as
she and her family are capable of remembering.
Her fascination with Nature and the Faery realm began at a young
age as well. She recalls fond memories of taking out a well-worn
copy of Brian Froud and Alan Lee's Faeries from
the local library and immersing herself in both the words and imagery.
She is especially intrigued by the deeper, darker, and more sombre
aspects of Faery. She views art as a means to connect with the spirits
of the landscape, and believes that ultimately faeries are distinguished
from humans by wings or pointed ears, but by an unearthly - or more
accurately - an entirely earthly aura.
Desirée is currently (2004-2005) a junior at Tyler School
of Art and hopes to persue a career in illustration, web design,
or graphic design.
